Antiphona

A white room. A booming voice. A great mass.

"Do you know your crime?"

A white throne, a figure dressed in light, neither small or tall, old or young, a voice neither soft or loud, but heard by all.

"Do you repent?"

A dirty figure on the floor wearing blood soaked chains, a blotch in an otherwise immaculate room.

"Will you not seek forgiveness?"

A thunderous voice, the figure bathed in light. He has spoken.

"Justice! Justice! Atonement! Punishment for her SINS!"

The great mass speaks.

Clean, obedient, virtuous, and pure. The lineage must be kept pure. She is dirty. She is staining the floor with her blood, he will not like that, he will not like blood on the floor, he will not allow a stain on the family.

"Father forgive me… my sin."

The great mass is shushed; the figure on the throne dressed in light is quiet. She has spoken. She has opened her bloody mouth, she has lifted her dirty face.

Screams tear their way out of the mouth of the great mass.

"She is impure, she cannot, be cleaned, she must be thrown downed."

"SHE HAS FALLEN!"

The figure dressed in light watches her, her dirty face, her wretched body, her sins manifested on her flesh, exposed for her judgment to come, for all to see.

But her eyes... her eyes are white, her eyes are pure.

"Are you repentant?"

She will not cry, she will not sully the room anymore with her blood and tears. She sees the great mass, pure and clad in white, perfect with righteous fury seeking justice. Upward, she looks upward; she only wanted to touch the sky… to touch him.

Was that her sin …was he her sin.

"Yes."

Softly, a caress whispered.

She hears them, chains rattling, the floor moving. The levers are being pulled down. The floor is groaning from the effort to open. The mass starts chanting with anticipation. A booming noise, the rattles of her chains getting louder, the floor has fallen beneath her feet. There is nothing beneath her. The only thing holding her up is a single chain attach to her hands. She has never looked down before. Now she knows way, it is a long way down.

The chanting is heavier, one great voice, one great mass.

"You are forgiven"

The chain is released.

She Fell.
