This idea came to me this evening, as I was reflecting on Clopin's basic characterization. I've likened him in my mind to a songbird for some time now, since he has such a stunning voice and since so much of his screen time is spent singing, but I began to realize there are at least a few other avian adages which can be made in reference to this character, with understandable foundation behind them. Sometimes I have moments of poetic spontaneity, though I've never really used this in fanfiction before. Well, what better time and circumstance to try something new? What better character to test this water in tribute to?

Although he's never referred to by name in this poem, just to be safe I'll remind everyone that I claim ownership to nothing here. It all belongs to Disney and Victor Hugo.

He is a songbird,

His lilting chords enriching the air,

Striking high octaves with perfection,

Skimming low notes with flair,

The songbird sings of so many things,

The bells he calls the city's soul,

That he loves them seems so true,

But it's his own voice which livens the land,

He ignores the credit he's due.

/

He's a bird of paradise,

Colours aplenty adorning his frame,

Luscious purple, eye-catching pink,

Yellow bright as the sun or a flame,

So easily captures, one's gaze he enraptures,

Though one longs to contain him,

To confine him would just never do,

This bird cannot last in a cage,

All his vibrancy darkening blue.

/

He is a raven,

His black velvet eyes, his glossy black hair,

His elusiveness and his humour,

And his dark, mysterious air,

His secretive knowing, in his eyes hints a-glowing,

He does seem well acquainted with Death,

He's delivered it oft times before,

Yes, he even lives near to the graveyard,

Raven adage grounded, so much all the more.

/

But he's a fine, lovely creature,

One would seek just to briefly perceive,

So much beauty in his every feature,

Such an honour, his view to receive.

Fini.

AN: If only this could be set to music, it would pay better tribute, I think. Well, that's it as it is, and I'm quite content with it; I hope everyone agrees.
