Disclaimer: I do not own the Naruto franchise in any way, shape, or form. I am merely a big fan, particularly of Sasuke. This is my first shonen-ai fanfic and I don't really know where I'm going to go with it, I do have a few ideas though. This starts right after Sasuke and Naruto's fight at the waterfall.
Prologue- The Way Things Are
The rain has started to pound harder, perhaps even the sky itself is weeping for the loss of one of its village's most promising genin, let alone the last remaining "sane" Uchiha. The best of his peers had tried to stop him, and his ambition did crumble, just not the way they had hoped.
"Can't they understand that this is what life is for me?" The raven-haired youth asked himself while resting against one of the many trees lining the way. "A series of battles on the quest for strength. It's the simple truth for any avenging angel." Overcome by amusement at the last remark he can't but bear the slightest of smirks.
Angel……. why is it the power of one marked a devil enables me to be such? It may be suicide for me to join him, but aren't I risking my life every time I leave the village? A thin line of blood begins to run down his cheek. Touching it he remembers the battle that he fought mere moments ago. I wonder if he had killed me if I hadn't held back. He certainly seemed determined enough, to think I really mean that much to him……… no it was probably that annoying girl's pleas that spoke to him. He always did like her, even after making that "excuse" to kiss me.
"Naruto, don't you even realize that you feel more strongly for me than her. Or maybe it's that you're simply running. You've been outcast long enough and people suddenly begin accepting you, it's probably because you wouldn't want them turning their noses in disgust again." He shakes his head. Or perhaps I'm the fool for thinking you even like me like that…………. Heh, yeah right. He wants me so bad that I'm sure even some of the dumb girls at home can tell it.
He covers his hand in the blood trickling from the wound. "I swear that I'll make you realize that….. you are the true reason I'm leaving the village. And the very reason why I'll return someday. "
I just hope you don't stand in my way; you're second to my oath of revenge after all. He begins to chuckle after that. Of course you will, you're just that kind of stubborn bastard……. Just don't come between me and Itachi. Don't make what only has to be one death become three.
