Inside the fated lover's mind

A very short Drabble about Romeo before he dies beside Juliet. There are references to lines in the play but they are paraphrased. In this, like the play, Romeo knows nothing about Juliet still being alive. These are just a few of his thoughts before he kills himself for love.

(Enter: Hero Running in the darkness)

To be with the one I love, I must sacrifice something dear

...my own life.

Her soul must be waiting for me at those bright gates of wonder filled with pearls and diamonds as bright as her beautiful face.

My mind switches to that letter...How foolish!For me to leave her in that state! I should have hidden near the city to hear her final breath.

I clutch the apothecary's elixir that holds my death.

Love's wings, fly me to her deathbed, quickly before I die too soon to lay a final kiss on her lips.

(Time passes. Hero arrives in a heavily lighted mausoleum with the engraved name: CAPULET)

Her face, still full of it's lively glow, brims in calmness...breaks my heart. Goodbye, fate, everlasting stars.

(He drinks the elixir)

That organ which has brought me here to proclaim my love slows binds my lungs and stops my thoughts. Sliding, sliding...out of fate's grip finally... My soul belongs only to her.

In the last few breaths I am able to make, (She stirs) my heart hears her strangled lachrymose voice, "Romeo!" now join me Juliet...
