Breaking.

She thought that he was perfect. Everything she wanted, everything she needed. The only thing she needed. But eventually, his true colours shone through. The browns and the blacks.
But he was a drug. Highly addictive, that no amount of counselling would get rid of. He was her fuel, her injection, so to say, which she needed a daily dose of. Everything. So bad for her, yet so, so good.
(she couldn't stop. she should, she should)
As time races by, the old, new, blue ribbon is tied together. She couldn't live without him, and he without her. Hasty promises were made, and it was done.
(regret)
At first, it was bliss. Blood red flowers were presented to her daily. So beautiful, their scent so intoxicating. He was so, so good to her.
But. Flowers wilt away, leaving the ugly withed leaves in sight. So ugly, so unlike her pristine surroundings.
(white)
This happens every day. Even now, it happens. But this affable action does not match him anymore. Not like his sweet, sweet self before.
Still, he comes home with the flowers.
(but neither of them are fooled)
Red, they're always red. She hated this colour, she didn't get that it was the new black. Purple had always been it for her. It was, in fact, the colour of royalty.
Royalty. She certainly did not feel that with him. Not anymore, no.
But she accepts it, with a plastic smile glued onto her poreless perfection. But they don't reach her amber eyes. And she could see in his chocolate brown ones, that he knew it too.
Perfection.
(she hated that word)
She looks at the flowers. From afar, they were beautiful. But close up, she could see the thorns, bursting from its stalk. She experiments with one and draws red, red blood.
But another drug she has. She kisses the sleeping mass of dark, dark hair for the last, last time. She slips into the midnight blue sheath, the one that he loves so much.
(and it won't stain)
Shaking, not with fear but disgust, she gives it a delicate spin and it rattles from its weariness. Hearing the familiar solitary clink, she unleashes it towards her temple and braces herself for that split second of ecstasy.

Once more, she is saved.
(not from him)
Phew... pretty dark stuff... review? :D
