Words of wisdom

Like a drawing

Scribble them down

Soak them up

Words of wisdom

Thousands of pictures

Each one holds

A memory too strong

Hope you feel better

Hope you feel bitter

My hunger didn't kill

It only made you grow old

And those grim eyes

Were your own doing

Those tears weren't my fault

You just made me unfold

Our words were enchanted

Our breath was held in

We stood on our toes

And never fell down

When the ground was too slippery

Dreams we couldn't grasp

Slipped through our fingers

And we'd lost all we'd found

We drove our eyes

Under the ground

Burning, breaking

Faster than sound

While nothing can quite

Replace the call

Beaconing to us

To look around

We couldn't have planned

The day ahead

We never remembered

The day before

But somehow our minds closed

Upon the boxes

And one at a time

We rotted to the core

If the clock rolled back

It's hands of shame

And took us to yester-year

Instead of today

To fly on our wings

To capture the sun

Our bottles open

Our minds astray

Then washing out these wounds

Wouldn't break the moonlight

That bled from your eyes

From under the valley

And a song not to be sung

Would silence the crowd

While the concert of illusion

Reached its finale

The sleep to sorrow

Was our silent garden

The antidote to sighing

was our own stare

But the birds stopped singing

When days got cold

And our silent garden

Became our despair

And since the speculator

Never gave a damn

Just watched the moments

Break through the atmosphere

A poem and a song

And a love and a heart

Pound onto paper

And slowly disappear
