He promised.
Where is he?
The war has been long gone. News of it spread quickly throughout the land. High in the Sky Kingdom, Peril perched atop a long stone barricade, staring straight to the twinkling night sky. Filled with hope, a long-lost promise for Clay to return. The Dragonets of Destiny still etched to many of the other Skywings around her.
But Peril? She only can think of one.
Only him.
No one else mattered.
Only him.
She peered the horizon, the blaze of ever churning fires from the war still greyed the sky. The atmosphere still, since it started, burned an endless cloud of smoke. The memories still echoes in every breath she took. The strong memories of the past times when her kind fought for the throne of the Sandwings.
But she can pass that. She can endure that. She can move on from all the carnage, death, nightmares, and devastating emotions.
She can let go all these pain.
If he only comes home.
Only him.
She fell the day she met him. As buff as he was outside, he felt no shame sharing what he is inside.
Fear.
No one, in her life as a little dragonet, has uttered a deep thought of emotion of a time they lived and survived. Not in the clouded mind of others. Seeing the war as entertainment. At least to her own. Her species as a fire-breathing menace. Yet only he lit up the fire inside her.
Only him.
She glances below the cliffside overlooking the deep forest and the waterfall. The wind strengthens as she remembered the time when they stared at each other. Not in the eyes, she thought she saw Clay, his soul. As pure as he is. The eldest of the five Dragonets of Destiny. The saviors who placed the world in peace. She glides towards the sparkling waterfall. It glitters pure white in the brightest of night. A few small steps, her reflection grew.
But it reminded of no one but him.
She uttered softly, underneath her breath.
"Only him."
Just as the fishes swam away from her, she heard it.
"Only you."
