"Thessia." Samara stopped, her eyes scanning the familiar horizon. The barest of smiles tweaked the corners of her mouth. "I had not expected to return here so soon. It has been a long time." She inhaled a deep breath. "And it is all thanks to you."

Shepard stepped off the shuttle beside her, stopping at her side and smiling. Samara stepped closer to her, their fingers intertwining as she leaned against her bondmate. Clouds dotted the sky, beginning to clear from a morning rain. The smell drifted up through Samara's senses, reminding her of a time long ago. Reminding her of the days she'd once put behind herself.

Samara closed her eyes, inhaling another deep and contented breath. She tipped her head aside, Shepard's smooth hair leaving a pleasant tingle across her skin.

"I had almost forgotten the smell of the rain. I always enjoyed it in my younger years."

"There is something soothing about it," Shepard replied after a deep inhale.

She turned her head aside, twisting to plant a kiss on Samara's temple. Samara leaned into the gentle kiss, her fingers tightening around Shepard's hand and holding on as if she'd disappear any second.

"I am glad you're here, Shepard."

"Me too, Samara."
