To Hold A New Beginning
It looks so small, nestled in the palm of his hand; yet when he closes his fist around it, the sharp edges of its irregular shape bite into his flesh. He welcomes the pain, encourages it even. Maybe if it leaves a deep enough impression he'll finally believe it's real.
It's come at such a high price, after all.
"Did you get the key?"
Sam looks up at Jessica's smiling face. God, how is she even possible? He smiles back and kisses her; so damn happy it terrifies him.
"C'mon." She takes his hand. "Let's check out our new apartment."
