Girl Talk

"So…you and Julian?"

Caitlin shook her head and smiled sadly at Iris. "We're just friends and barely that even."

"Drinks and a steak dinner would suggest otherwise," Iris teased her.

"Don't make me regret telling you about that," Caitlin told her.

"Sorry," Iris apologised, "I know you feel like you don't deserve to be happy but you do."

"I'm not a good person," Caitlin reminded her, "I don't deserve to be happy."

"Julian doesn't seem to think so," Iris assured her, "and just for the record neither does any of us."

"That's because you always try to see the best in everyone."

"No," Iris shook her head, "it's because we know you Caitlin Snow and you're not a bad person."

"Thanks."

"Don't think I don't know that you're trying to change the subject," Iris told her friend.

"What are you talking about?"

"Please," Iris huffed, "how was the steak?"

"It was surprisingly good, he was totally right about the food," Caitlin replied, "I had a great time."

"So you're planning on doing it again sometime soon?"

"Did Julian ask you to talk to me?" Caitlin eyed her friend.

"No," Iris shook her head, "he would never. This is me poking my nose where it's not wanted."

"As lovely as it was," Caitlin sighed, "I don't think we should do it again."

"I thought you liked him," Iris was intrigued.

"I do," Caitlin smiled sadly, "but with this whole Killer Frost thing hanging around my neck and the prophesy about one of us turning, I have to be vigilant."

"Can I tell you something?"

Caitlin nodded.

"When Julian…Alchemy said those things in December I was worried, what if I was the one who died or the one who turned and then Barry told me what he'd seen and I was scared. I didn't want to die, I still don't, I mean, who does but then I was scared that I would die before I ever accomplished anything with my life, that I would only be remembered as a daughter, or a sister or a girlfriend."

"Iris, you're much more than that," Caitlin told her.

"I'm not so sure about that," Iris admitted, "but I decided that I was not going to be scared anymore, what would be the point anyway? I decided that I am going to live each day to the fullest, to enjoy every single moment that I have been given."

"You know we're going to do everything we can to change that future."

"That future also affects you, you know" Iris reminded her.

"Yeah," Caitlin shrugged, "But I've already become Killer Frost at least once before so what's to stop me from becoming her again?"

"You're strong," Iris told her, "you can fight her off, you've done it before and you can do it again and like you pointed out we'll be here to help you when you can't fight by yourself."

Caitlin nodded wishing she believed it as much as Iris did.

"I mean," Iris teased her, "Julian went all the way to Gorilla City to protect you."

"That was totally misguided move on his part," Caitlin said, "and honestly I think he just wanted to visit the Planet of the Apes as he kept referring to it."

"You keep telling yourself that."

"It's the truth," Caitlin insisted. "He's just a nerd."

"If you say so."

"Shut up," Caitlin said, "we better get moving the show's about to start."
