This was going to be done for the fic contest, but it didn't really work, so I totally redid my entry. This may not make a whole lot of sense now, but there is a BIG fic in the works that will go back and tell the whole story.
Title: Jack
Author: Seaweed_FMA
Series: Brotherhood/Manga
Word Count: 250
Rating: PG for slightly adult topics.
Character(s): Jean Havoc, Rebecca Catalina, a couple of minor OCs.
Summary: It was time to tell her about the family that she had never met.
Warnings: Some talk of death and birth, but nothing really descriptive or gory.
Author's Notes: There is a long fic to go along with this. This a drabble that will most likely be the epilogue of the story, though I had to shorten it quite a bit to fit the word limit. It may end up being my Big Bang for next year.
"Mommy, why are you sad? You have a baby inside you. You should be happy."
Rebecca smiled down at her daughter. "I wanna tell you a story, love. Come here." Rachel eagerly sat beside her mother, snuggling close.
"Years ago, your daddy and I fought some bad men, and daddy was hurt, but we beat them. While daddy was healing, we fell in love. Later, I found out I was gonna have a baby."
"Was it me, mommy?"
She rubbed Rachel's hair. "Yes, it was you. When was time to have my baby, there was a problem. You were okay, but there was a another baby inside of me."
"I... had a brother or a sister? Where are they?"
Rebecca sighed softly. "He... was sick. He was small and couldn't breathe. And... he died." She sniffled away the tears.
"Don't cry mommy. I know he's watching over me. I'll watch over my little brother or sister, too."
Rebecca smiled, holding Rachel tight. She was so strong, and Rebecca was very proud of her.
"One more push..." A loud cry pierced the room. They anxiously looked at the doctor, who had a bloody, wriggling baby in his arms.
"Congratulations. It's a boy." He was cleaned, wrapped in a blue blanket, and handed to Rebecca.
They looked each other and nodded. There had never been any doubt as to his name.
"Hey, Jack." Jean grinned. "Welcome to the world."
