Summary: Ran thinks fairytales are rubbish.
-----o-----
Once upon a time…, a fairytale would always begin with.
Several years ago, Ran was like any other normal girl, dreaming blissfully of fairytales. She was the princess with beauty of no comparison, and she had knight in shining armor. She would wait for her knight inside a majestic castle in her big, soft and comfy bed near a large window overlooking the garden.
Of course, she already had Shinichi as her best friend, so she was more exposed to mystery and detective work early in her life. She tagged along with him and because of that, had few girl friends. She did not mind, for she dedicated herself to her genius friend and his mysteries.
She had logic and reality, so why believe in those sissy grandmother's stories, Shinichi chided?
Fairytales seem to find themselves in the deep corner of her heart. Perhaps why she still believed in it is because she is still a young girl. She dreamt like other girls her age would do. She would not deny that sometimes Shinichi found his way in her fantasy, clad in white armor and armed with a deadly sword that would kill her captor dragon and carry her off to the beautiful sunset.
She grew, and like growing women, she would develop reason and logic (like Shinichi hadn't instilled much of it in her in the early years of their friendship) and she began to believe less. But she was aware that her personal fantasy is still burning, undaunted deep in her heart. She already knew it was her most profound desire.
Now at 17, she barely acknowledged that little spark of passion, fearing Shinichi's reaction. She hid it for so long – she felt like she could hide it for another couple of years. Or wait until it is extinguished.
Right now, she regretting that she never informed Shinichi about it. Now she rarely saw and heard from him and she knew he was always lying during those infrequent times. She desperately wanted to have him in her side again, no matter what. This was her harder times, and she needed Shinichi's support.
Then came Edogawa Conan, a 7 year old boy that was entrusted to their care by Dr. Agasa. Following his appearance, business was bloomed and her father became famous. But she already had suspicions about the mature boy's identity. He was too much like Shinichi. The way he slept, the way he walked, his posture, his thinking trail, curiousness and uncanny appearance was similar to Shinichi's traits. She just had no evidence, so she couldn't prove it.
She heard snoring, and she looked down from her book. She had been reading a fairytale earlier, and she assumed that Conan fell asleep in the middle of the storytelling. She could see Conan sprawled all over a blue futon besides her own pink one. The lampshade lighted his face amidst the darkness and she knew it was Shinichi's. An open book was set over her lap, and she struggled with shaking hands and flowing tears to finish the fairytale's last words.
"And they lived happily ever after…"
Wah… I don't if some author inspired me… So if somebody has a same plot, then the credit goes to you. XD So what do you think?
