Nobody was done dancing. The Doctor was happier than Rose had seen him in a long time. Well, for as long as she had known him, really. He always seemed so sad, but not today, because today he had saved everybody. "Everybody lives, Rose! Just this once, everybody lives!" That was what he had said. And it was true. There had been no casualties and no enemies, just a misunderstanding, and it had gotten resolved. No one died.

Rose wasn't through dancing, either. The Doctor, her best friend in the universe, could dance, and he was dancing with her! She hadn't even known he could dance. He didn't seem to have known until just then, either. Even if she had been thinking she was going to dance with Captain Jack Harkness…But maybe she would get a chance later.

Jack wasn't done with dancing. He didn't have a partner currently, since Rose and the Doctor had taken this song, so he just smiled at their happiness and leaned back against one of the strange coral thingys growing up from the floor of the beautiful, dimensionally transcendent space-time ship. He really didn't want to think about how close he had just come to dying, and definitely didn't want to have to thank these two people for saving him…though of course he was grateful. He knew he hadn't deserved any of their help after putting the whole world in danger.

The Doctor was dancing. He hadn't thought he remembered how, and he certainly never thought to be happy enough ever to try again. He had thought that the skill and the feeling had died alongside the rest of his kind. But now he couldn't imagine not ever dancing again with this fantastic girl, his shining star, his best friend, alongside him. Her smile and laugh when he dipped her and caught her at the last second warmed his hearts. He let go of Rose to give her a flourishing bow as the song ended. "Thank you for this dance, my lady," he said, half-jokingly, half respectfully.

"My pleasure!" Rose laughed. She tilted her head at the Doctor as he stood back up. "So, Doctor, where're we going to go next? I mean, for Jack's first trip? Not the destruction of the Earth, like you took me to see, I hope. Once was enough."

The Doctor pretended to be thinking, but he knew where he wanted them to go. He wasn't through dancing yet. "Oh, I dunno. How about…a dance?"

Rose and Jack both laughed, but it was Rose who responded. "Really? Haven't we just been doing that?"

"Well, yes, but I mean a real dance. How about 1464, Christmas, Edward IV's first Christmas married to Elizabeth Woodville? Those were some fantastic parties. What do you say?"

"Sounds good to me," Jack said, grinning.

"We'll have to dress for the time period," the Doctor warned.

"That's half the fun," Jack responded. "I'm good at blending in!"

Rose stifled a laugh, covering her mouth with her hand. "Really, Jack? I wouldn't have guessed that."

Jack looked mock-offended. "Hm! I'll have you know, I was one of the best in costuming and disguise back in the Time Agency! I thought that the clothes were one of the best parts, actually."

"Yeah, I'll bet you did," the Doctor said, raising his eyebrows. "Rose can show you the wardrobe. I'm sure I've got some stuff in there that would work."

"You've got a wardrobe?!"

"We've got everything," Rose clarified. She took his arm and pulled him away towards the wardrobe room, saying "I've no clue what exactly we're looking for, so you'll have to help, 'kay?" Jack replied with something the Doctor couldn't quite hear, but he could guess at roughly what the captain had said. He rolled his eyes. 51st century…

So this might get a sequel someday telling what happened at the dance, but only if anyone wants one. For now, it's a one-shot, #3 in a sort of series I'm doing of one with each Doctor and companion(s) in New Who. #1 is The Red Bicycle, #2 is Faith and Trust. Thanks for reading!
