The spaceship was soaring down to Earth, and Dmitri Erland was growing more and more nervous as the minutes passed.
He told himself it was for good reasons, the right reasons.
To find Princess Selene, to end Levana's reign.
To discover a cure to that godawful letumosis.
But, really, truly, honestly- it was because of Crescent.
They'd taken her, a child, to be slaughtered. All because she was a shell, she was one of the lucky few immune to the glamours.
"Approximately two hours until landing." the automated voice echoed through the ship, shaking Dr. Erland out of his thoughts, his gaze returning to the portscreen.
He stared down at a blank application to work in the palace's medical ward. It was longer than it'd be normally, due to the credentials required to work in Letumosis research. Those could be easily forged.
Dr. Erland's fingers brushed across the screen as he slowly filled in the basic information.
Full name. Sage Dar- no, not that name. Dmitri Erland.
Age. 56. That could be answered truthfully.
Gender, male. Nationality. He paused, opening a new tab to retrieve the forged documents that had his new history stored away. Granted, they'd been expensive, but they were worth it. Nationality, Eastern Commonwealth.
It was simple, really, the betrayal, he thought as he continued to fill out the form on autopilot. Leaving his home, his planet for another. Luna wasn't worth it, not now.
Not until Selene could claim her heritage, not until she could get rid of Levana, could Erland truly rely on Luna.
Luna was corrupt, and Dr. Erland was prepared to do whatever was needed to end it, be it research, recruiting Selene, starting a rebellion.
Because Luna was no longer his home.
