The Power of Love:Scott/Jean

(Note:story takes place after a very intense mission where Jean saw some very
heartbreaking things)
Jean slipped into the room she shared with Scott,hoping he was asleep.The only thing on
her mind was the darkness of the minds she saw into during that days's mission.As Jean
tried to hold back the tears,Scott hear the muffled tears and got out of bed and went over
to Jean.Scott whispered in her ear,"What's wrong Red?".As Jean tried to tell Scott what
she had seen the feelings became too much to bear alone and soft yet painful tears started
to trickle down her cheek.Scott gently slipped his arm around her and whisped the only
thing he could tell her,"I'm here".Over the next two hours Scott tried to keep his own
heart from breaking as Jean cried on his shoulder.Every so often Scott could only whisper
soft I love you's into Jean's ear as the teardrops fell like rain.When they finally went to
bed,Jean let herself sink into the warmth of Scott's arms as he held her close to his heart.
As the teardrops became quiet sobs,Jean let her heart speak throught the link she and
Scott share,(I felt what she felt and it still hurts).Scott could only let his heart speak as he
whispered through the link,(You did what you could,just feel).At that moment Jean let
herself feel the waves of tenderness,understanding,and pure love wash over her heart as
Scott sent the waves throught the link they share.As Jean finally fell asleep in Scott's arms
he very tenderly kissed her on the cheek and whispered in her ear the one thing that would
help,"I love you".Right at that moment,Jean whispered back,"I love you just as
much".Scott knew all that Jean needed to recover from this mission was the one emotion
that was the purest of all,the power of true love.
