Happy Valentines day! REVIEW!

Jake was driving Sam crazy. Crazier than crazy actually! He wasn't talking to her, and when he did he used fewer words than usual. She was sure by then that he didn't want to be her friend anymore. She remembered one time before. He had flat out said, "Your friend ain't here no more". She had hated that time.

Now he wouldn't talk to her. It had started when Kit came home again. He had brought a girlfriend, and something had made Jake mad at her. Was it because she liked the girlfriend that Jake seemed to dislike? Was it because that her and Kit were working with a horse together? What was his problem! There were times she wanted to scream in frustration.

She was out on the Playa with Ace, wishing that Zanzibar would just show up. That was another thing that was going wrong. He wouldn't show up. She was worried that he was injured or mad at her. And it was almost Valentines day. She had hoped to give Jake a Valentines day card that told how she really felt, but she couldn't. She didn't want to make him even more mad at her. Her world was falling apart.

A few hours later

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

Sam's eyes flute red open, and look right into the deep dark brown mustang eyes of Jake. His eyes were huge with worry. Sam looked for her dad, Gram, and for Brynna and Cody, but they were nowhere to be found.

"Where's dad?" "Down stairs a couple flights yellin at that...," Jake paused in atemped to use a word that wouldn't get his mouth washed out with soap by his mother and Gram.

"Yellin at that, lousy excuse of a man." "Linc?" "Flick." "What'd he do? Why am I here?" Sam took a big breath and winced. It almost hurt to breathe.

"He was shootin at that horse you're crazy about, and Ace spooked and ran off." "He was shooting ant Za- Blackie!" Jake nodded. "But why am I here?" "Because you got stepped on, and you hit your head again."

Sam was drifting back into un-counsisness. Jake took her hand in his and held it until her family got back, and then he left.

Another hour later

Jake didn't know why he had left! Last time she was in the hospital all he had wanted was to be with her. He had actually been more talktive then. It wouldn't have been as hard for him to have said "Sam you can't be about to die! I'm in love with you!"

Now if he tried he would have died right after saying so. He finally made up his mind what to do.

"I'm going to town Mom!"

Valentines day

"Wyatt? Is Sam here?" "Yup." "Where?" "In the living room, she's a little grouchy though."

Jake nodded his thanks and walked in the living room. "Hi Sam."

Sam's jaw dropped. He had just called her Sam! Sam, not Brat.

"Hey." "I got something for you." "I have something for you too. It's in my backpack. Could you get it for me, my dad says I can't move from the couch until I go to bed." She made a face.

"Here." Jake handed her the backpack, and his Valentine. Sam handed him her Valentine. The she gave Jake was a pink card that had a polar bear on the front with it saying, "I have just ten questions for you!" Then on the inside it looked like this.

Will you be my Valentine?

Will ya?

Will ya?

Huh?

Will ya?

Huh?

Will ya?

Huh?

Will ya?

Huh?

Then in a little place that she could write she had written,

So will you?

The card that Jake had given Sam was red and covered in pictures of horses and roses. In the inside was a place to put a picture. He had put a picture of him and her when she had just got back from the hospital. He had insisted on holding her all by himself. She smiled, and her smiled deepened when she saw what was on the next side of the card.

Sam,

I'm in love with you... Don't tell your dad he'd kill me. Will you be mine? Please?

Love,

Jake

Sam's mouth dropped open, and Jake closed it with a kiss. This was the best Valentines day ever.
