Central Park is always a dangerous place, especially for police officers. There is always something going on that the officers on beat had to deal with whether it was people fighting or some lunatic that was causing chaos to the people in the park. Officers rarely get killed in parks but this one did.
June 4, 2009, of course Fourth of July, the day that seems to have everyone at a craze, especially near dawn because all the people go out to Central Park to see the fire works. But unfortunately for the Crime Scene Unit the officer did not die at that time of day but rather in the early morning when the park opens. Officer Jose Holplex, a mounted police officer had been shot and killed and was now lying face down with a bullet in his head with Detective Mac Taylor standing over him. Singled gun shot wound to the head the shot probably came from over there. Mac stated to Don Flack, the NYPD Homicide Detective who watched Mac point south to where the shooter may have stood. Mac kneeled down to inspect the body closer, while Don left to question the very few people who were around when at murder happened.
Later on: Male stab victim, 34 years old, works in that bodega across the street. Apparently no one saw anything, even though hes out here in the open Don said as he walked towards Detectives Danny Messer and Stella Bonasera. They started to process the scene. Photographs of the body, swabings of blood and other fluids, plus a few other collections of things that maybe related to the crime get collected, sorted, labeled and sent to the lab for processing.
Officer Holplex had died of a gun shot to his head. He died instantly. Unlike the male stab victim whos name is Bobby Dexter. He got stab, but he bleed out until he died, he probably lasted a hour or so until he finally died. And since he died in the open and nobody saw anything, makes his death very suspicious.
Macs suspect is smart, probably knows how to clean up a crime scene due to the lack of evidence that Mac found at the scene. Maybe the suspect watched a lot of crime shows, they show a lot of thing that could help someone plot a crime and execute it. Danny and Stellas perp is different he left his knife that stabbed Bobby in plain sight and it had Bobbys blood on it and his fingerprints, plus a receipt for that knife on his kitchen table.
So you clearly killed that guy, come on your fingerprints were on that bloody knife left at the scene, AND you had a receipt for it on your kitchen table that we found when we searched your house! Danny practically yelled at Vic Richardson the suspect. NO! I didnt even know him! Vic shot at Danny. You dont have to know someone to kill them! Danny yelled get up in Vics face. Vic snapped and jumped from his chair and grabbed Danny and threw him to the floor and pulled a knife out of his boot. Vic screamed at Danny and then sliced his neck, his blood pouring from the wound. Officers finally arrived and grabbed Vic and dragged him out of the room, then Don came in to help Danny.
Danny was in surgery for two hours. The knife had done some damage to his larynx and will be out of work for a few weeks. Macs case is still going bad, nothing that Mac found at the scene is helping him find his perp. Mac worked several more weeks on the case before he decided to call it a cold case and if anything is found in the future it will be opened again.
THE END
