This poem expresses my feelings about Thomas
Hewitt, and the darker side of myself that I only just found existing. I
find myself attracted to Thomas the human and the man, when I only
thought I wanted to hero-worship the devil.
-
Fears from these drunken skies
And the things that are in your eyes
They make me want to stay with you
Play your evil games with you
They make me want to be the love
You thought you'd never have
-
Scars are beauty marks to us
And the scent of the wheat in the meadows at dusk
Cannot compare to the musk of your heat
Cannot compare with the things that I need
You force the world to die at your feet
And I'm foolish enough to think I could be
The love you've never had
-
The desperate things we're forced to do
Only make it easier to understand
The pain of yourself life puts you through
Cause I loved the devil and hated the man
-
What do you do when it's do or die?
These are the choices in your eyes
I found you when you couldn't be
I gave you a heart so you could bleed
I gave you back your humanity
Who knew it would change the tint of the skies?
Who knew you could prove compassion a lie?
Who knew you could choose who you wanted to be?
Who knew you could choose you didn't want me?
-
The desperate things we learn to do
Only make it harder to understand
The pain of the truth life puts you through
I destroyed the devil and set loose the man
-
Life was the candle with blood that you doused
I can't stay in this haunted house
It makes me want to forgive you
It makes me want to be hurt by you
It makes me want to be the love
You thought you'd never have
-
Pain is your existential thread
Dark the currents that twist in your head
But the light can't compare to the masks that you wear
They let you be strong, but they leave me so scared
My heart cries in loss, but my soul screams, "Beware!"
I loved the devil, not the man in his stead
Woe: the truth is alive, and the myths are all dead
-
The desperate things we never thought we could do
Only make it so hard to understand
The pain of ourselves life puts us through
I sought the devil and found a man
-
Loveliness from these blinded skies
And the pain of all life that is in your eyes
They make me want to stay with you
Hold and caress and comfort you
They make me want to be the love
You know you cannot have
-
Scars are proof of the truth to us
And the emptiness of the meadows at dusk
Cannot overcome the height of your heat
Cannot swallow up all the things that I need
You force the world to see it's own deeds
And I was foolish enough to think I could be
The love you thought you'd never have
I've loved the devil, but been loved by the man
