Ice-Skating mishaps

How he convinced her to go ice-skating with him she will never know. Maybe it had something to do with the bribe he offered her. She wasn't sure how he convinced everyone else to come. Probably with spa certificates and baseball tickets, no doubt.

So here they all were; Castle, Beckett, Ryan, Esposito, Lanie and Montgomery, all at the ice rink on Christmas day getting ready to go ice-skating. The rink had been decorated with tinsel around the edges and a large star hanging from the ceiling. The rink wasn't the only thing decorated, so was Castle. He had a large, knitted sweater on with a smiling Santa on the front. On his head was a very large and fluffy Santa hat and to top it all off his ice-skates were bright red. As soon as everyone saw him, they burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?" Castle asked with a confused puppy dog look on his face.

"You" Montgomery replied.

"Why" Castle asked, seemingly having no idea how ridiculous he looked.

"Have you looked in the mirror" Beckett asked very calmly before pulling out her phone and taking a picture. Wait until everyone sees this, she thought.

"No, why. Is it too much?"

"Come here" Beckett told Castle. He was starting to look really sad.

Beckett showed him the picture and Castle stared at it before pointing to the photo them himself, too speechless to say is that really me? Beckett nodded in reply before Castle sulked off to get changed.

"Do you think we were too hard on him?" Beckett asked the group.

"Nah" They all replied and skated off.

Ten minutes and a few falls later (mostly from the captain who didn't have much balance) Castle walked out looking normal. No-one noticed him so he sat down with a large hmmf. They couldn't care less. He put on his ice-skates (the bright red ones) and held on to the railing while his made his way to the ring however, as soon as he got on the ice he fell on his butt. Now everyone noticed him. He was being laughed at again. Castle just sat there pouting. The day was not going how he had hoped. The plan was for everyone to have fun but all he had done was humiliate himself.

He decided that instead of getting up and falling over again, he would just sit here and watch his favourite detective. She was a fantastic skater. Esposito was really good too. Ryan was racing the captain (and winning.) When he looked back to Beckett he found that she was chasing Esposito around the ring. The look on Esposito's face was hilarious. It was somewhere between excitement, humour and utter terror. Castle decided that Beckett's idea was a good one and he took a photo.

When Esposito and Beckett circled back around Castle called Beckett over and showed her the photo. She burst out laughing.

"Wait till everyone sees this" She said.

"Yeah it's hilarious"

"Are you ok?"

'Yes, why?"

"You have been sitting there the whole time yet this was your idea"

"I can't ice-skate" Castle mumbled.

"Castle you have no sense of balance or co-ordination, what did you expect?"

"To be dazzling"

Beckett laughed before replying "why don't I teach you?"

Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all...
