I don't own CSI.

You don't have to read my story, "Stronger," before this, but it might explain what's going on a bit.

This has been floating around my head for quite some time. I always loved the relationship between Grissom and Brass, and I wondered...what would Brass say to his former colleague after the events in "Forget Me Not?" So that's where this story came from. Please read and review.

And some spoilers!

Jim Brass loved his family at the Crime Lab - the only happy family he'd ever known. So when he learned that his good friend Sara Sidle had split from his former colleague, Gil Grissom, he was stunned. He knew from experience what a bad marriage was, so he thought Gil and Sara were solid. Yes, it was an unconventional marriage, but every time he asked Sara about Gil, she always had a smile. Like everyone in the lab, Jim thought they were solid, and her being married to him was like keeping him at the lab.

Jim stared at his phone, knowing that wherever Gil was, he probably wouldn't answer his phone. So he looked at his computer. Gil had given him his personal e-mail address when Sara returned in to the lab. As much as he admired and respected Grissom - he had given the CSI power of attorney after his last run-in with his daughter - Sara was one of his closest friends. He thought about his previous conversation with Sara when he began typing his e-mail to Gil.

Gil, I respect you as a CSI and as a friend...but what the hell were you thinking?

Sara is the best thing that ever happened to you. Even if you didn't have a "normal" marriage, you were married. I don't know...maybe because I went through a bad divorce and know what a marriage shouldn't be...I thought the two of you were happy. Sara always had a smile when she talked about you. She loves you. So why the hell would you just dump her.

Maybe that's not what happened, I didn't pry. But I do know that you two were good together. She was happy when she came back to work with the team. She and Nick and Greg are practically siblings - and in case you're wondering, they're there for her. So's Russell, Morgan, Finn...I know you probably don't know their faces, but surely Sara's talked to you about them. Everyone including me is there for her...well, maybe not Hodges. I swear, that tech's lips have been firmly attached to your ass...

Anyway, I just thought I'd say my piece. You made the biggest mistake of your life by letting Sara go. I hope you'll realize that she's the best thing to ever happen to you and maybe you'll come back to her.

Jim.

Jim hit the 'send' button and sighed, wondering if Gil would even read the e-mail. He hoped Grissom would come to his senses and come back to his wife. Even if he didn't come back to the team, Jim imagined his former colleague would be happy teaching at the university or advising the team as the 'bug guy'.

He was brought out of his thoughts when he saw the woman he'd just been thinking about standing in the doorway. She smiled hesitantly.

"We're going to grab some breakfast," Sara said. When she saw him look confused, she added, "Me, Nick, Greg, Finn, Morgan, Russell...you want to come?"

Jim smiled, thinking about his dear friend and family at the lab. "I'm in."

The End.
