Author's Notes
Y'know, as much as I hate writing late at night, its when I get my inspiration. I have been listening to the song Rin by Kagrra, for a long time. My Sensei told me that it would make a perfect song for a Rin songfic. However, this isn't a songfic; this is what happens when I listen to the same song on repeat for four hours straight. It messes with my mind. The fanfic is in NO way reminiscent to the song though. Like I said; it isn't a songfic.
A note: I center this fanfiction on describing scents because..well, I find the rumor of Rin being an Inuzuka to be laughable, but I could imagine her being aware of the different prescences of the people she knows due to their scents. I'm a wacko.
Title: Insomnia
Rating: T
Pairings: Some KakaRin, but nothing major
Summary: Sleep never came easy, but it was always for a reason.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. I wish I did though; I'd put the KakaSasu fans in their place. But alas, I don't.
Sleep never came easy for Rin, but it was always for a reason.
When she was young, it was due to the silence, and what could be lurking in it. Nothing was there, of course, but that in itself was frightening. Her guardian was in ANBU, so Rin couldn't remember much about her. All she remembered was that the woman smelled of sunflowers and the wind, and it was such a confusing prescence, that even when she was there, it was impossible to sleep.
When she became a genin, it was due to the excitement of being around people constantly when she was on a mission. She always slept near Kakashi and Obito and Sensei, and they smelled like thunder and sun and fire, and it was such a comforting prescence that she didn't want to sleep and miss the feeling.
When Obito died, it was because everything was different. The sun had set with his death, and the fire had died down with Sensei becoming the Hokage. Kakashi didn't remind Rin of thunder anymore. Curled up against his chest, he smelled like his sweat and her rain and their tears, and it was such a forlorn presence that all she could do was try to breathe.
When Sensei died, it was because everything was just too familiar. The thunder had to keep moving as Kakashi joined ANBU, and she had to listen to the silence that was left with the final scattering of her last bit of happiness. The empty apartment smelled like ice, and it was such a lonely presence that Rin could only curl up in the darkness and cry.
When she slept, she remembered.
And that was reason enough.
