Own Nothing.
One-shot.
She stood out of the movie theatre, under shelter in the pouring rain. She held herself close against the cold air. She was on a date, not a very good one she might add. He wanted to go dutch on the bill, talk about nothing but sports and how much he hated the Hawks. Then while they were int he movies, he left for the bathroom and never came back. He was her ride.
A sleek black sedan pulled up and Nico got out. He had a coat in his hand and he handed it to her. "I called Reggae to come get me. Why are you here?" She asked, pulling the coat on and getting in the car. She felt the warm air on her skin and almost wanted to cry with joy. She held her hands up to the vents, letting them warm up.
"I was there waiting to pick up T.K. the two of them seem to be close friends." Nico replied, giving her a look.
"Don't give me that look. Bad enough to have the worst date tonight. That you have to pick me up with a lecture." She glared at him as they drove out of the parking lot. They drove in silence, the rain beating on the windows, her cheeks began to warm up from the heat. "Thank you though, for picking me up."
"What are friends for?" He asked.
"You told me not to go out with him, you said you had a feeling." She glanced at him. "You were right."
"Of course I was. I went to elementary school with him. He was a bully and an asshole." Nico replied, smirking.
"You did a background check didn't you?"
"Yes, he was kicked out of college and than the Marines. Hasn't held down a job in months, lives with his mom still." He glanced over at her. "Should I go on?"
"No, I get it. I should've listen to you." She sighed. "Just wanted to get back out there, meet a nice guy. But they're all taken or gay."
"Of just off limits." Nico replied.
"What?" She looked at him. "Was that a crack about my ex-husband? Because that so was not funny."
"No, it was a crack at Matt. You two work together but you both like each other."
"Matt's dating that Lauren woman. I'm moving on." She crossed her arms. "Jerk left me in the middle of a movie, a stupid teenage flick at that."
"Matt?" Nico glanced at her.
"No, the guy, John. He wanted to see this stupid movie and I was like 'why not'. He said it was good. It was horrible." She groaned, covering her face with her hands. "I have horrible taste in men."
"Just with dating them." Nico joked, cracking a small smile. "Friends you do pretty well with."
"Exactly." She looked up. "If I can find a guy with the same qualities that you have. At least some of them, than that would be perfect. But you just had to be a diamond in the ruff."
"Diamonds are a girl's best friend." He gave her a small smile as he pulled up to her house. "You have a good night Dani, what's left of it."
"You to Nico. I owe you one." She gave his arm a little squeeze.
"Just send T.K out here, I still have to take him home."
"No Problem."
Five minutes later and T.K was sitting where Dani had sat. His seatbelt on and they were driving away from her house. "So did you and Dr. D have fun? He smirked.
"You will not speak of it." Nico warned as he drove to T.K.'s house.
"Okay, I wont tell Dr. D about your little crush on her."
"And I won't tell her about your other problems." Nico threatened, giving a small stare. The look stopped T.K. in his tracks. He stared at the older man, unsure.
"What do you know?"
"More than you think?" Nico smirked.
