All that Jem could see at first was darkness. It took him a while to realize that his eyes were closed. After joining the brotherhood, he had forgotten what sleep was. Waking up groggily, he reached out for Tessa's hand marvelling at the sight of her. He still couldn't believe that she was his wife. The word itself sent a jolt of happiness through him. He bent down to place a kiss on her cheek.
Tessa woke up to find Jem smiling at her. His happiness was evident. Feeling a smile strech across her lips, she wrapped her arms around him. His arms were steady around her and she could feel his heart beating against her chest. His warm embrace had always comforted her and today was no different. She didn't know how or when she had fallen in love with him. All she knew was that she had and there was little she could do about it much the same way she couldn't stop loving Will even after all the years that had passed after his death.
