i. ring around the rosie
When Amelia, Edgar and Robert are children they befriend a muggle girl who teaches them a nursery rhyme. The muggle girl dies in an accident, when her home is burned to the ground. The cause of the fire is unknown, or that is what the muggle police say. Amelia, Edgar and Robert know exactly who killed Helen and they will never forget.
ii. a pocketful of posies
Resistance is in the air, Amelia can smell it. She knows that Edgar has decided to fight for the Order, but Robert is expecting his first child, and Amelia refuses to be a part of the madness her older brother has sworn his life to. She plays with her little nieces and nephews and she sees the tight smile on Eleanor's face and she knows that this will not end well.
iii. ashes, ashes
They kill three children. Callously, in the most opprobrious manner possible, they kill a five year old, a two year old and a baby, no more than a few months old. Eleanor and Edgar are dead. Amelia's mum and dad are dead. Amelia walks through the remains of her childhood home, and feels the bile rise in the back of her throat, smells the burning everything. She is reminded of Helen, and she wants to vomit. Fire is evil, fire kills, fire burns and destroys and takes away, leaving nothing but ashes and an empty, damaged cell.
iv. they all fall down
Amelia visits their graves once every year; sometimes with Robert and Katharine and little Susan, and sometimes alone. A group of small children, dance in the moors behind the graveyard and they sing a nursery rhyme that chills Amelia to her bones.
