Revulsion

I don't own any mentioned characters. Richelle Mead does. :3

She knew her hands were shaking from the fear that was going through her veins. Even the pressure of her oncoming tears was getting to be too much. She couldn't look at the paper that she had in her hands without having to blink away the tears that were threatening to spill. Looking down at the paper once more, at the number she had memorized from the time she was given it, she just prayed that it wasn't too late.

With the phone pressed to her ear, she couldn't help but pace as she waited. Each ring made her dread that maybe he wouldn't pick up. He had to pick up or else she would continue to try and get a hold of him.

Hearing that click that signaled someone had answered it, she felt like rambling but part of her was still sane. That sane part of her wanted to hear his voice; the voice that she hadn't heard in ages. Even though she knew how he worked, she still had to ask.

"I know I'm not suppose to call but this is an emergency Abe. A really big emergency."

A small chuckle came from the other end. She just wasn't sure if it was filled with humor or something else. It was hard to tell with this man and yet she called him. He was the only way to get Rose back home. She was in no position to do that but he could. Rose was his daughter after all so he could have a soft spot for his own child. Even if he has never seen her before.

"What type of emergency Janine? Pleasure emergency or something more urgent than that?" His voice had that hardness that sent chills up her spine but she couldn't focus on that part of the past. With each second that pasted, the lesser the chance of her – their – child coming home.

"Cut the shit Ibrahim. This is our daughter that we're talking about right now." Janine hissed in some vain attempt to show how upset she was. She was and she could feel it on her face as the now freed tears fell from her eyes.

She wasn't expecting Rose to be like this. She couldn't even wrap her head around it still. Was Belikov's death that much to push her over the edge? Why was it if it was? It made no sense to her.

"Our daughter? What about her?" A seriousness had finally fallen into his voice, making him sound professional. She wanted to hear that from the beginning. It meant he was ready for business so to speak.

"Rose left the Academy a few days ago. No one knows where she's going. If you could track her. Try to get her to come home. Alive preferably." She pleaded. It made her feel weak for the first time in ages. The last time she felt like this was when she had their child. Now she was worrying about their daughter again.

A long pause followed after that. If Janine couldn't hear her his breathing then maybe she would have thought he hung up. How long could it take for someone to decide something? It made no sense to her.

He sighed, clearly disheveled over the news of having a daughter or her running off. Either way, he had made a decision that could go either way. "Janine if we meet, you have a lot of explaining to do."

"I understand Abe. Now go after her. Go after Rose."

"I'll see what I can do."

With that he hung up, leaving her wanting. She wanted to hold her daughter, to tell her that everything will be fine. That wasn't possible though.
