I call doing the first Mzingo fic ever first! I called it, and the ones I did for Makuu and Dogo. First fics entered on them, right here. So in this fic I decided to explain a theory of why he and the rest of the vultures are more loyal to Janja and his clan rather than the Pridelands.

He remembered a time when the land was practically chock full of leftover carcasses and bones with meat still stuck onto them. "Those were the good old days," he recalled. A time when the hyenas roamed the Pridelands freely and practically left behind a bountiful feast for he and his fellow vultures to devour. He remembered, he never forgot being so full in his life them.
"Then that lion came," he thought odiously. When he came, the hyenas were kicked out and his once full dinner palette came to an all time low. Aside from the lion pride and the few cheetahs, crocodiles and other predators that left behind the skeletons of their prey, their really were times where he would go a day or more without eating.
"Hmph. Even when the Pridelands was dead I still could eat at least something every day."
Perhaps the reason why his kind and the hyenas were so close was because they shared the same diet. They were both scavengers, feeding off the dead flesh that creatures left behind. Though a great difference between their habits was that hyenas would and could hunt too. And if they hunted, they left behind enough meat for them to devour.
But the lions. No, no they kicked them out. The hyenas, the main, big scavenger they moved out, banished them to the Pridelands. But they kept them, keeping them because they weren't deemed as 'much of a threat'. They would be the Prideland's main clean up crew.
"Not much of a threat, huh?" Ohh... they were plenty dangerous. Perhaps not so much of their physical features, but their minds could come up with the most dangerous schemes and ideas, all of which they could give to those who knew how to feed them properly. A simple, clever mind was a dangerous thing.
Besides, being Janja's own majordomo had it's perks. By relaying tidbits of information gotten by sneaking and eavesdropping around the Pridelands, it brought up opportunities to gain their trust and loyalty, and more importantly, opportunities to get a feast every chance they got.
So why did they tend to stick with the hyenas? Simple really it gave them chances to be fed. And if assisting Janja and his clan invading and taking over the Pridelands was the only way to get a full belly each and every day, then he and the other vultures would take it.
So you see, it really wasn't much of hatred towards the Pridelanders, more of a simple way of life. Scavengers pick off after the carnivores. And if the carnivores did leave enough, the scavengers picked off of them.
Kinda creepy at the end, I know, but Mzingo is considered to be a villain in the series, so adding evil was necessary to this story. Plus he is a Rüppell's griffon vulture and if you look up pictures of his kind you can see how menacing they look.
