The constant bellowing of the incantation for the Patronus Charm filled the Defense of the Dark Arts classroom.
"EXPECTO PATRONUM!"
Though Lily wouldn't admit it, she was getting frustrated very quickly. Her brows were furrowed and there was a mix of determination and annoyance in her green eyes. She had thought that getting the spell right would have been easy, since she was great in both Charms and Defense, but she was proved wrong.
She looked over at her friends. Marlene McKinnon had already got her Patronus- it was a turtle. Dorcas Meadows had gotten hers also. It was a cougar. Remus Lupin's was a wolf (no surprise there). Even Sirius Black has his, which was a huge silver dog.
Lily tried to think of more powerful memories. At first she had tried thinking of all the times she was at Hogwarts or with her friends but it was unsuccessful.
"Expecto Patronum!"
That was James Potter. He succeeded in conjuring his Patronus. It was a large silvery-white stag, but she didn't pay attention to this fact for a long time. She was suddenly overwhelmed with happy memories of James and her together… At the start of the year, since they we're both Head students, the forced amount of time together would've been unbearable if they hated each other, so they proposed a truce. They were really great friends now, actually, despite their rocky beginning; Lily had realized she had seriously underestimated him. He was, overall, a wonderful person to be a round, and he made Lily happy…
"Expecto Patronum!"
Lily's voice rang loudly as her Patronus galloped from her wand.
It was a doe.
It raced over to where the large silver stage, made by James Potter, was standing. At this point, the whole class was silent in watching the coordinated, corporeal Patronuses. The doe stared at the stag a first before it nuzzled its neck.
"Oh my! That's exciting!" The DADA teacher, Professor Supraul, said excitedly. "Matching Patronus! They could be between friends, siblings, parents, anyone really. It means that the two casters have a special soul bounding together or are, in other words, soul mates."
But James and Lily weren't listening. There were just starting at each other.
Soul mates.
