Summary: The first in a series of metaphorical poems about the Star Wars characters.

Author's Note: I've been feeling kind of guilty for leaving you guys in the lurch while I focus on the Harry Potter fandom. I'm really sorry, but I honestly have had no inspiration for Star Wars fics whatsoever, so I haven't written any.

This poem came about after reading Ted Hughes' poetry. I started a similar series for the Harry Potter characters then thought that I could also write a Star Wars series. So, here it goes.

This poem is highly symbolic and metaphorical. Feel free to email me about it - jedi_kenobi@eudoramail.com or annie_black@eudoramail.com

Thank you to Theed for your wonderful Obi-Wan poem, another part of my inspiration.

A Life's Journey: Amidala

By: JK

In this city of beauty,
A girl stands alone in the night,
A moment of peace in a life of stress
Gives her only a chance for despair.

A ship on the harsh rocks is foundering,
The beacon, its hope in the night, is unlit.
Despair fills the voices of people,
Crying for someone to care.

And through the night comes a girl
Alone, she cannot succeed,
Praying for help and for hope she despairs,
Longing for someone to care.

Three strangers run through the darkness,
Together they knock down the door,
The girl races up, lights the lantern,
And through her bravery saves the ship.

Thoughtful and lonesome stands a woman,
Matured beyond age by her duty,
Unable to live as a girl,
But longing for someone to care.

The sailor stares, awed at her beauty,
Wanting her love in return,
For his aid in her mission of mercy,
For saving the foundering ship.

Longing just to show that he cares,
Gaining her trust in return,
Bringing her ship into harbour,
No longer lost, for he cares.

Now alone, abandoned, she stands,
Farewelling her home and her duty,
Staring a new life, alone,
Betrayed by the person who cared.
