A Piece Of Work
He met her lips halfway in a brisk manner, pouring his heart and soul in the one last thing they could do before the time stopped slowing down again and was no longer still, reminding them of who they are and what they believe in.
What they fight for.
'But we believe in the same thing.'
'Yet we're going to face each other in the battlefield, all with different reasons.'
They knew it was a shot in hell, but knowing that it's the only thing they got only made it more enticing...even thinking of the possibilities were tempting.
If they both survived. If only one survived... If no one survived.
If the Darkness continued to reign. If the Light triumphed over...
It was endless.
But Hermione prayed with all her soul, hoping things would change for the better.
And Draco wished they were two different souls who got to know each other in the right time, right place, and all for the right reasons.
The next they knew, the time stopped slowing and continued with the dull 'tick tock, tick tock'. And all they could remember as they rushed out and changed history was the life left in their lips as they fought for the reasons they live and believe in.
Even though what was needed remained unsaid, they reasoned that's all that makes the difference, the not-knowing.
To Draco, there's this feeling that makes him think that they weren't meant to last, that they were destined for other people.
To Hermione, being the Gryffindor as she was, she believed in them.
Somewhere, somehow, there was another world with a different Hermione and Draco.
Somewhere, somehow, they got each other.
Somewhere, somehow, it was all another piece of work.
Fin.
