"Hell-o Brit-ta!" Shirley squeaks as the blonde enters the study room. Shirley and the rest of the group are already seated at the table, chatting happily when Britta arrives.

"Ugh, I'm so not ready for break to be over," Britta moans into her coffee.

"Britta, what's wrong? Aren't you happy to be back?" Annie asks, concern etched on her face.

"Or was your break just super awesome?" Troy chimes.

"Hm, if you count drinking wine and re-reading Nabokov's work every day super awesome," Britta yawn s. Jeff tilts his head in thought, his arms crossed, as always.

"Britta! You should have come over!" Annie says, leaning over the table. "I'm always down for another girl in the apartment, you know that!"

"Well, what's done is done. Let's talk about the new semester," Jeff says, opening up his Biology textbook.

"Um, excuse me," Annie says, eyebrows raised, "I wasn't done talking, and Jeff we haven't even had our first class yet! You always dominate the conversation."

Britta looks at Annie and then turns to Jeff with a smirk.

"Excuse me?" Jeff asks. "Are you telling me to relax?"

Annie straightens her posture and throws him a haughty look.

"Okay, everyone start over, I just missed everything," Pierce says.

"So, that biology project was a disaster, right?" Annie leans into Britta, her hands tugging on her backpack straps. The two girls are in front of the sinks in the restroom.

"Tell me about it," Britta sighs and wipes her hands on some paper towel.

"Britta, listen," Annie says, realizing her voice is getting super high all of a sudden, "um, I just wanted to apologize for what I said to you earlier. You are not the stupidest one in the group."

"Annie - "

"I honestly don't even know why I said those things, I'd still rather work with you over pretty much anyone, besides maybe Abed," Annie squeaks.

Britta smiles. "We're cool."

Annie smiles and sighs with relief. "Okay," she says nervously. She rocks on her feet a bit before swaying forwards and kissing Britta full on the mouth. It's a shy, nervous kiss, more like a question than anything else.

"Um, Annie…."

"Oh my God," Annie squeals. "Britta, I am so sorry, I have no idea why I did that!" Annie blushes furiously and darts her eyes to the floor.

Britta looks at the younger girl. Annie is of course pretty, conventionally so, yet attractive enough for Britta to notice. What did this kiss exactly mean? Britta's mind reels. She has to say something soon before Annie gets offended and hurt but she isn't sure what – should she ask Annie why she kissed her? Britta's face turns warm, realizing a part of her wants to kiss Annie back.

"Annie," Britta says, pulling a strand of hair from Annie's face before realizing it's a bit too intimate a gesture and moving her hand to Annie's shoulder, "you don't have to apologize. I do think we need to have a talk about this later though, maybe somewhere more private."

Annie's eyes widen. "Right! Totally."

"Very interesting beginning to the semester," Britta smirks at Annie, and makes her way out of the bathroom.

"Britta, wait!" Annie bites her lip. "Give me some fivesies?"

Britta grins, slapping the brunette's hand down.
