Gift Exchange
It was a particularly hot December afternoon on the island when Karl got a unexpected visitor. He sat in a shaded area of the cage when he saw Benjamin Linus walking towards him, a small wrapped package in his hands, the colourful paper standing out in the bright sun. Despite the sort of happy image this was supposed to be, Ben looked like he was pissed off at the world. Karl hopped off his stone and stepped closer to the bars as the older man approached. Once Benjamin was close enough to the cage he thrust the package through the bars, holding out for Karl to take.
Being cautious, Karl reached out for it gingerly. Ben shook the present impatiently, " Come on, I don't have all day." He drawled as Karl took the present, looking at the little bells on the wrapping.
" Oh, I get it. You're my secret-" Karl stopped short when he saw that Ben was already walking out of hearing range. He rolled his eyes, " okay, Happy Christmas to you, too." He muttered, holding the gift up and shaking it a bit before unwrapping it, pulling out a book.
He recognized it from one of his books at home, but he guessed that if could have been worse.
He could have removed his liver or something.
Karl sat back down on in the shade, a small smile on his face. It's the thought that counts, right? Now he just needed to find a gift for Juliet and a way to get it to her.
