Reunited
By Misha
Disclaimer- I do not own Brenda, Sonny, or Carly. They belong to the creators of General Hospital, Wendy Riche, Bob Guza, ABC Daytime, and probably a lot of other people with more money than me. I'm not making any money off this story so please don't sue me.
Author's Notes- This is just a short drabble about how I would have liked Sonny and Brenda's reunion to go. I love Sonny and Carly, really I do, but to me, nothing will ever compare to Sonny and Brenda, and I truly hope that they'll reunite. However, this really isn't about that. It's just how I would have loved to see their first meeting go. I wrote it before they reunited on screen and I wish the real thing had gone like this. I'd like to have seen all the anger, questions, tears and everything be saved for later and just had it be a tender moment between one of daytime's all-time greatest couples. Well, that's all, I hope you enjoy!
Rating- G.
Brenda stood at the Penthouse door, ready to knock.
She had thought long and hard about this, before sneaking off the boat and coming here. She had waited until Carly had left, had seen the guard go downstairs for a minute, and now she had her opportunity.
Finally, she knocked on the door.
After a moment, it opened and Sonny appeared.
Brenda just looked at him. It had been so long. It seemed unreal that she was finally standing in front of Sonny.
He stared at her.
"Brenda?" He whispered in disbelief, taking in every detail of her appearance. "Is that you? Am I dreaming?"
"It's really me." She whispered. "Oh, Sonny."
He opened the door to let her inside the apartment and she stepped inside.
Then, after a second's hesitation, Sonny held out his arms and she walked right into them.
Sonny wrapped his arms around her, savoring the feel of her. He would never know any woman the way he knew her, not even Carly.
Even after all the years that had passed, Brenda's touch was still familiar to him. He had so many questions for her. There was so much he didn't understand.
But at the moment, it didn't matter.
Nothing mattered except the fact that he was really holding her. That it wasn't just another dream. There had been so many over the years, even after Carly.
"You're just as I remember." He whispered against her hair.
"You're even better than I remembered." She told him softly, placing a hand on his cheek. "Because you're real, not just a memory."
He didn't say anything, just held her tighter.
So much had changed since the last time he had held her, yet it felt the way it always had. It was like things had just gone back to the way they were.
But that wasn't possible.
Yet, in this moment, as the two of them held each other, anything was possible.
As he drank in the scent of her, Sonny forgot about everything that had happened since Brenda had "died". For a moment, he allowed himself to forget about the woman whom he loved and was committed to now.
Real life would intrude soon enough. Both Sonny and Brenda knew that in a little while All Hell would break loose. There would be many complications of her reappearance and there was no way that things could just side back to the way they had once been.
But for a moment, they would pretend that they could. For a moment, they would forget about everything else in the entire world.
It was just the two of them.
As she clung to him and as he drank in her presence, nothing else mattered. Only that many things had changed in four years, but that the connection between the two of them was not one of those things.
Brenda felt like she had truly come home and for the first time since he had walked away from her, Sonny felt whole.
No matter what came next, they were together for a moment and that was all that mattered.
The End
