Disclaimer: I do not own the Hunger Games, nor do I own Katniss. I only own this bit of poetry.
Katniss's Song
Listen.
Can you hear it?
The song of the mockingjay.
Every note, clear and sweet
Crisp as the rare, red apples Prim loves so
They sing such sweet melodies
I wander through the glade, bow in hand
Awake and alert for prey
The forest calms me
Gale calms me
We walk together in the shade of the trees
Quiet and peaceful
We spy all sorts of game, small and large
Enough to keep our families safe
In the forest we forget our woes
Forget the Capitol, forget the Hunger Games
Forget that there is a strong chance we will be fighting for our lives next year
In the forest, I am peaceful
Basking in strong memories of my father, Gale, and Prim
There are no Games, no mine explosion
Instead, there is only the calm shade of the woods that I so crave
Peace.
Calm.
Awake and alert.
Listen to the sounds.
The feelings
The forest is my real home
And it's calling me.
