Disclaimer: I do NOT in any way shape or form do I own any of the Uglies stories/books. =}

Okay, look, before we get into anything, let me explain one thing. Living in Uglyville, we of course, are ugly. They say we are all born this way. (Oh, I should probably introduce myself. I'm Tally Youngblood.)Here, we are all called "ugly" until we turn 16, which is when we get surgery and all that to make us "pretty".Once you become pretty, there are NO imperfections about you. At least, that's what I thought.

So, here's the deal, my so called "friend" Peris is now a "pretty". I wanted to go across to New Pretty Town to see him, but, since I'm an ugly, I couldn't. I snuck across to his side of the river, and found a random room, trying to find him. When I looked inside, I saw the truth of the pretties. They were nothing but fakes! Frauds! Whatever you want to call them, they weren't exactly perfect. This girl had beautiful blonde hair, big blue eyes, and a perfect face (obviously). What I saw, I couldn't EVER un-see. She stood looking at her perfect reflection, and started to peel off that amazing perfect face! Underneath, she had smaller blue eyes, a slightly bigger nose, freckles, not nearly as perfect full lips as she did before, and a pimple here and there. They were just like us! The doctors didn't give us surgery! THEY GAVE US MASKS! They just had us hide our imperfections. I moved on to another window. Standing there was a tall muscular brunette guy with the most dazzling brown eyes ever. I watched, expecting him to remove his mask also. Well, he did… but he did more than that also. It turns out, over some clothes; he was wearing a suit to make him look muscular! Underneath it all, he was a total twig. I'm guessing his mask had contacts built into it because he had to put on Harry Potter glasses! I couldn't take this anymore; I didn't want to find Peris after what I had seen. I wanted to get away. In a few days, I would become a fraud, too. I couldn't take that. The next day, I had to leave.
