Mai hums happily, dancing about as she tidies. Headphones in and not a care in the world. She pauses as her phones message tone interrupts her music, sighing she fumbles her phone from her pocket.
Hey, you home?
Frowning at the unknown number, she hesitantly replies 'Yes pulling the headphones from her ears she can now hear the knocking on her door. She hastens to the door, before peeping through the little hole. Her jaw drops, swinging open the door and eyeing the man with surprise.
"Are you insane?!" She asks as she ushers him inside
"I had to come Mai, I had to see you."
He goes to pull her to him, but her lightening fast reflexes helped her to dodge his advances.
"No." She says sternly
He broke her heart, he had no right to expect anything other than mild mannered hospitality.
"It's been a while."
Almost six months to the day." She hisses
"Listen, Mai I don't know why I left the way that I did. I am so sorry that I hurt you. After all you stood by me through. I can't believe I treated you so poorly." His voice was thick and she could almost smell the tears forming
"So why did you?" Her eyes narrowing, as she fought the tears herself.
"I think I was scared. Too scared to lose another loved one, after Gene I just couldn't risk it. And I dealt with it in such a shitty way. And I hurt you and I'm so sorry. Can we please try again? I know I'm always going to be terrified of loosing you, but I'm too afraid to live life without you, it's too hard."
She sniffles, trying to figure out what to do in her head and yet knowing full well what the outcome was going to be. She holds her arms out, like she use to do. And he smiles a heartbreakingly handsome smile, scooping her up and smashing his lips to hers.
