All I could hear was the gentle breeze of the wind brushing against anything it could touch. All I could smell was a stench worse than death itself. All I could feel was the sticky substance that had coated the ground and myself. And last of all, all I could see was the red blood that had splattered everywhere. It was soaked into the earth, soaked into my hair and covered my body and everything in sight. The enemy had gone, left me all alone to die here in this field. And my protector was nowhere to been seen. In the back of my mind I could feel him coming to me. I could feel the grass on his feet as he ran to save me. But by then I'd be dead, long gone. I was gasping, I realized as I tried to sit up. Gasping for any air I could manage to gather in my lungs; which wasn't a lot.
If this was what it was like to be dying, then I didn't want to do it ever again. And thankfully, I wouldn't have to ever worry about experiencing it again. What with my death approaching fast; if only my protector would get here faster than my death. The pounding I could hear, I wasn't sure if it was my protector's feet slamming to the ground or my heart slamming against my chest in a frantic attempt to save what was left of me. I could feel my senses dulling and it horrified me. I could feel everything but my own heart beating after a while. My protector, his cries from a distance were heart wrenching, or at least, they were painful to hear. I could vaguely hear myself cry out as pain ripped through my very dull being. This was terrifying, it truly was. I could only imagine what my protector must have been thinking at this point.
My name, he'd screamed my name as he drew closer, but I was almost gone, I could feel it. My time here would be short lived and I knew that. But I had done what I was supposed to do. I protected my family, my village, my love and I had protected my protector.
"Good bye… Inuyasha…" with that final sigh, I found myself drifting away. My life was gone; the breath I had been gasping for could no longer be reached. And then I couldn't feel anything and my world went black.
