A Sudden Storm
Tea gazed out across the city as the rain made a pit pat noise on the window. She may have appreciated the view more if the sudden storm had not forced her to seek shelter. Thankfully, she had dashed into a nice restaurant. Now, she was dry and safe from the storm, and she could get something to eat while she waited for it to pass.
She was glancing through the menu when a familiar person pulled up a chair across the table from her.
"Hey Tea! Fancy seeing you here," Tristan said as he sat down. "How have you been?"
"Good I suppose," Tea replied, evaluating her choices. "Really wish it wasn't raining though."
"I hear yah," Tristan said. He glanced at his own menu. "It isn't exactly the best weather to ride a motorcycle in. Especially when it is raining this hard."
"Yeah," Tea said absentmindedly. She was lost in thought. Something on the menu had caught her eye.
"Hmm, this looks good. What do you think, Tristan?" She pointed to the item on the menu. He looked at it for a second before shaking his head.
"Nah, looks a little too spicy for my liking." He turned his attention back to his own menu and glanced through the desserts. "Now that looks delicious," Tristan exclaimed pointing out the hot fudge sundae.
Tea couldn't help but laugh. "Your supposed to eat dessert after the meal, not before it."
Tristan grinned. "Who said I was ordering it now?"
Just then a waiter came over.
"Are you ready to order," the waiter asked. He was holding a pencil and notepad, and stood ready to take their order.
"We're still deciding," Tristan replied. "Could we have a few more minutes please?" "No problem," said the waiter. As soon as the waiter left Tea went back to conversing with Tristan.
"What have you been doing lately? Joey told me you were looking for a job. Any luck?"
"To some extent," he said, messing with his glasses. "Been spending time babysitting my nephew. How about you?"
"I've been mostly applying for a dance school over in America," Tea said. She took a sip of her drink. "I'm going to miss you guys when I'm gone though."
He nodded. "Yeah, we'll miss you too, but we want you to be happy. After all no matter where we are we'll still be friends."
Tea looked outside and noticed that the rain had eased off. "Let's go ahead and order so we can eat. I need to get going soon. I was on my way home when the storm forced me in here. I have things I need to get done, and I want to go before it starts raining again."
"Sounds good to me." Tristan called the waiter over to take their order. Once their order was placed, and the waiter had departed he turned back to Tea. "When do you plan on leaving for America?"
"I'm not sure yet," Tea said uncertainly. "I'm thinking it will be soon though."
Their food came a few minutes later. They ate in companionable silence. When they were finished they paid their bill and said their goodbyes. As they parted ways, each wondered if it would be the last time they would see each other. At least for a long while.
