DISCLAIMER: I do not own Inuyasha or any related characters. The story and art is property of the great Rumiko Takahashi. This fan fiction is for entertainment purposes only, and in no way will be used for my betterment. I wrote this because I admire the owner's work and wish to daydream about the characters.
I know I haven't been posting lately, and I am so sorry for that my loyal readers… College life is hectic, even with a light course load, and my home comp isn't the speediest in the world. I wanted to do a series of ficlets. This first one takes place some time after Miroku falls into a dangerous trap, but before the Kohaku thing. I seriously think that some time had to have passed. Anyways, if you've got an interesting idea for the next ficlet, let me know. No set romances, though I will have Sango and Miroku stuff for certain. Can't help it. They make such a cute couple. First one is 389 words.

"Houshi-sama?"
Miroku looked up and at his friends. They were seated around a small meal that the inn provided with the room. It was such a hot day that they chose to eat with the sliding doors open for a light breeze. All could see an attractive view of an open field, thick with weedy flowers, though it's subtleties lost on the elder male members.
"Hai?" he asked, mouth partially filled with carrot, still puzzled as to why he was receiving concerned looks. Everyone seemed to be so delicate around him since his wind tunnel ripped a few days ago. Anytime he got caught wandering off in his mind the girls and Shippou seemed to think he was thinking about his curse.
"You've been chewing that same bite of carrot for the last five minutes and looking out on the ground." Sango said, filling him in on what had happened.
"I know the view is nice but it's not that amazing," Shippou added.
"Are you alright Miroku-sama?"
The monk nearly choked on his carrot. He swallowed quickly and laughed. So that's what it was. He must have gotten captivated in his thoughts and his serious face crept up on him. For a change any grave thoughts were far from his mind. He truly was thinking pleasant thoughts, and not perverted ones either.
"I'm sorry if I worried you. I was simply thinking about something is all," he reassured them, his gaze turning back to what had caught him up earlier.
Kagome, Sango, and himself had lined their shoes up before entering, but somehow Kagome's futuristic shoes had gotten knocked to the side while Sango's and his remained in the same position. They were close together, and if he ignored Kagome's loafers, made him think of a family. Granted it was a small one, but that's what the group had become. A strange mix of brothers and sisters with feelings for each other that weren't always just within family. He noticed how Kagome liked to cling to Inuyasha, and he certainly had warm affections for Sango. Even if the feelings weren't mutual, it was nice to have the six of them together. Family was a distant concept to himself and Inuyasha. Come to think of it, Kagome's was the only one that was any bit stable.
"Just thinking is all…"
