"You are serious? He really did that to you?"

"I never really tell people."

"Dude, this isn't normal."

"No. but he really liked me the best."

Before today I never really knew Neil, my best friend.

I knew of him; he walked like an angel, he was nonchalant and mysterious. I was infatuated, and held captive by his peculiar aura. Not until this moment have I understood what lies beneath his tough exterior.

I am Eric. I live in Hutchinson Kansas, and I have a keen fashion sense. My lovely friend Wendy and I desperately desire Neil. I am considerably lucky that Neil happens to love everyone. Likewise, I am considerably unlucky that my hang-up is hung-up on his childhood baseball coach. Wendy is long gone. I miss her a lot, she moved to the big apple. Bitch. Neil tells me he hasn't seen his coach since the summer he was eight. A tear wells up in his eye as he says it.

"I was his favourite."

I really want to help Neil. This isn't right. He never understood that what the coach did was against the law, and I don't think he wants to know. I love Neil more than ever, knowing this secret. I want to make things right for Neil.

We share a long silence. We have shared really long silences in the past, but I can feel the tension this time. Neil really poured his complicated heart out, and I feel I must reciprocate.
