To a Hollow, the word "meaning" was meaningless.

There wasn't a goal to your life as a Hollow. You ate, ate, ate, ate, and ate some goddamn more. You did not test yourself, you did not thrive for power, and you did not wish for anything new. You ate because you had to eat, and one justified that by putting meaningless meanings and excuses behind actions.

Many Hollows would lie and say that they ate for power – the ability to crush those below you in terms of how much you ate.

Many others found eating pointless, but still ate because they said they'd "die if they didn't eat". True, but Hollows ate twice as much as any normal person.

Those who lusted for power didn't know what power was. Those who fought for survival didn't know what survival meant. Meaningless words with meaningless meanings, serving only as excuses for those below you to explain what you did and why.

Very rarely do you see a Hollow that told the truth.

"I eat because I want to eat".

"Meanings" were fiction, and once you told the truth of your existence, one could believe you were stronger than any other Hollow in the world. If you ate because you wanted to eat, then you wouldn't need anything else in the world. Eating had a meaning, the only word to, and yet that definition had only one word: Gluttony.

And gluttony for the sake of gluttony was beautiful.

But even then, "gluttony" had no meaning as well.
