Bobby has an expected visitor while researching in his many grimoires, deep in the South Dakota night.

Bobby didn't bother glancing at the clock. He knew it was late (or early, depending how you looked at it). He closed the heavy tome. He'd been searching, as he did every night, for a way to communicate with Sam that didn't involve bloody and terrible sacrifice. Killing virgins, or babies.

A breeze ruffled the hair on the back of his neck. He reached for the bottle, poured a generous couple of fingers into an empty glass, passed it back over his shoulder.

"So, your brothers learnt the value of independent thought yet?"

Castiel sighed, and despondently downed his whiskey.
