A red-headed boy sat in the locker room, by himself. He had always been a loner. None of the people who where actually on his high schools hockey team knew he came here. None of them knew that he came here every day after school, none of them knew he was the best hockey player in the entire school.

Gaara Sabaku grew up in the desert of Suna city. Growing up in a cesspool of violence and misery he learned early on that people are not inherently good. He learned how to fight in the back alleys of Suna and had made enough money to move out of his father's home in Suna and move to the hockey capital of the world. Konoha.

Ever since he was little Gaara had loved hockey. He never thought he would be any good at it, but then his only friend Naruto had convinced him to lace up a pair of his old skates and play pond hockey with a few other friends.

Little did they know of the skill hidden in Gaara. They had never seen anyone move so fluidly. It was like watching a lion take down a gazelle. It was instinct at its most primal form.

He walked out on the ice only to see the hockey team on the ice practicing. He saw his blonde friend who have him a thumbs up.

"So it seems we got someone who wants to join the team. It's pretty late so I figured I would leave the decision up to you guys. If you say he's good then I'll take you at your word." The silver-haired coach said.

"Mr. Kakashi, Gaara is a better hockey player than I could ever hope to be. He would be a great asset to the team. we might even finally go all the way to nationals." Naruto said. He truly believed in his friend, even if Gaara didn't believe in himself.

"I say we let him at least prove his skill level to us." Neji Hyuga said. He was the team captain. If he opposed Gaara then the redhead wouldn't make the team.

The rest of the team nodded.

"Sabaku. Get in net." Kakashi yelled snapping Gaaras' head to attention only to see his brothers padded form move into the net. Even Kankuro hadn't known of his brothers natural ability. It was still a surprise to see him down at the other end of the ice.

Naruto skates down to where Gaara was standing on the ice. Gripping his stick until his knuckles turned white.

"Maybe this isn't such a great idea Naruto." Gaara growled.

"Don't worry so much Gaa-chan. You'll make the team just fine." Naruto said cheerfully.

"Okay Sabaku #2. The rule is simple. You need to put 7 out of 10 pucks in net to make the team." Kakashi explained.

Gaara nodded. That's when he heard Neji snort. "No ones ever put more than 6 in net against Kankuro." He said to whoever was standing next to him.

They were all breathless as they watched Gaara move as Kakashi dropped the puck.

Kankuro never stood a chance. Gaara was too fast. He couldn't keep his eyes on Gaaras stick. He deked from side to side and was unable to stop the first shot that was high to the stick side.

He made the next five in row. This was the 7th shot. He needed to make this shot.

Kakashi dropped the puck. Gaara took possession of the puck and Kankuro was starting to get pissed that he hadn't even been able to stop one. He had the best goal tending stats in the entire country.

Gaara skated towards the goal before making a spin move and putting a backhand shot, right in between Kankuros' 5 hole.

Naruto went insane.

Nejis' jaw went slack.

Kakashi smiled pleasantly. The kid was good. Really good.

"Welcome to the team Gaara." Kakashi said throwing Gaara a jersey.
