Snow. Blood. Cold. Alone.

A girl, small and vulnerable, stumbled through the snow-covered forest. Her cheeks were red but so were her sides. Blood followed her, creating a trail as she tried to escape the hungry eyes of her hunters. She was alone but constantly being observed. She was cold but her blood heated her to her very core. There was snow, individual flakes packed together from the large sum of tributes that had run across its surface, surrounding her. It covered the entire arena in a soft blanket that had turned hard and cruel.

She'd survived a weak but hadn't eaten in a day and a half. The odds of her escaping the arena were slim, barely even existent, but she pressed on. Her mind was far from the Games, focused on something much more dangerous.

A boy, one that she had stupidly fallen for, had brought her to the brink of destruction with nothing more than a thread to use as means of escape.

She'd fallen blindly. She'd been entranced by his beauty, by his personality, by his arrogance...he drew her in. She knew that he was dangerous, she'd known all along but she couldn't keep herself from being drawn to his icy gaze and his calloused but gentle hands.

She dropped to her knees suddenly, unable to pull herself from the painful thoughts of her lover, and buried her pale hands in the snow. The frigid touch of the icy flakes stunned her back into reality, just as she'd intended for it to, and she dropped her head in defeat.

Her blonde curls tumbled from within her hood, their white-blonde color looking strange against the stark white snow. She was too anxious to look back at the snow dyed red by her blood, well aware of how frightened she'd be if she were exposed to such a painfully shocking sight.

She knew she was going to die. He was far more talented than she. He was skilled and had been trained to kill while she'd just been dragged along for no apparent reason. Fate had dealt her a cruel hand and she was left with nothing but regrets. She'd played her cards incorrectly and was left with nothing but a shattered heart and a withering body.

What led to her downfall? The boy, the one she'd met in the center of her District. The boy with a bright smile and icy blue eyes. The one that had left her reeling when he kissed her, had left her intoxicated and desiring even the slightest touch to sate her growing desires. He'd given her all of those things, but only to bait her into believing his every word. She'd fallen for his tricks and suffered greatly.
