Phil POV
Dan and I had decided to go to the fair that was in town for the weekend. We had been wandering around for about 45 minutes, going on the rides and eating a lot of junk food. We had just bought some candy floss and were sitting on a bench enjoying it. I looked around to see what else we could do as we had done most of it. My eyes settled on a 'Hoopla' stall.
"Hey Dan?"
"Yeah?" He asked.
"Can we have a go of that?" I asked, pointing to the Hoopla.
"Hoopla?" He questioned. I nodded. "Those things are always rigged." He told me.
"Come on, please? It's part of the carnival experience." I begged.
"Fine." He sighed. We both got up and walked over.
After explaining everything to us, the man gave me the hoops. I grabbed the first one and threw it. I missed. I grabbed the second and tried again, with no success.
"Last one Phil." Dan said next to me. I focused on the pole I was throwing it on to. I threw the hoop. It hit it, but fell to the floor.
"Better luck next time." The man said. I sighed. I turned and started walking away.
"I'll have a go." I heard Dan say. I turned back around.
"Really?" I said, sounding slightly excited.
"Yeah. Hoop me up, baby." He laughed. The man handed him the hoops.
"Remember, get all three, and you get one of the big prizes." He said. Dan nodded and then focused on throwing the hoops. He threw the first one and managed to get it around the pole. I stared at it shocked and when I looked at Dan, he seemed shocked too. He picked up the second one and focused again. He threw it and again, managed to hook it around the pole.
"How?" Was all I said.
"Don't question it." He said, picking up the last one. He focused on the pole and lined up the shot. As he threw it, I covered my eyes, not wanting to see.
"Yes!" I hard Dan shout, followed by a few people clapping. I uncovered my eyes and saw all three loops around the pole. I started clapping and cheering.
"Well done." The man said. "You can pick any of the big toys." He said. Dan stared at them, deciding on which one he wanted.
"I'll have…the…lion." He said, pointing at a big stuffed lion. The man got it down and handed it to Dan.
"There you go. Enjoy." He smiled, and then turned to talk to someone else.
"Come on." Dan said, walking away from the stall. I followed after him. As we got further away he turned to me. "Here you go." He smiled, handing me the lion.
"Why are you giving this to me?" I asked confused.
"You dragged me over there. I won it for you." He said, blushing slightly. I looked from the lion to his face, and then, without thinking, crashed my lips against his. He seemed a bit shocked at first, as was I, but he soon returned the kiss. I pulled away first and stepped back.
"Um… Sorry about that." I said, rubbing the back of my neck with my free hand. His face changed from shock to a smile.
"Don't be." He smiled. I looked at him for a moment, before smiling back at him.
"Where to next then?" I asked.
"I don't mind." He said as we started walking.
"How about you win me a goldfish?" I asked. He gave me a 'seriously?' looked.
"No." He said.
"Why not?" I whined.
"You'd kill it." He said.
"No I wouldn't." I told him.
"You would forget to feed it and then it would die."
"No I wouldn't." I tried again.
"No Phil." He said.
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No." I turned to him and kissed him again. I pulled back. "How about now?" I asked.
"That's not going to change my mind." He laughed. I sighed in defeat.
"Fine." I said. "How about we get a puppy?" I asked laughing.
"No." He laughed as we walked towards the exit of the fair.
"Maybe next time for the goldfish." I said.
"Whatever." He laughed.
