"You guilt is showing, all shining and marble like (not like mine that isn't really there)."
A grinning face pops in, haft in the room and haft out her fingers holding tightly to the door frame afraid to put all of herself in (am I wanted? Am I?).
She watches me; her face worn with red puffy eyes her feet stepping slowly into my room.
"Can you?"
"Yes, yes and daddy sees mine clear as day. Do you see them clear and shining? No, no not without these (horn rimmed hiding guilty eyes)."
Before I can take her hands she pulls my glasses off slipping them on her own face, their too big falling down her face but for some reason I don't grab them back just smile and laugh.
"I don't think you could grow into them."
"Their better then daddies, Claire says too."
She baits me on, knowing just her name sets me on edge.
"When did you talk to Claire, Elle tell me."
Her eyes flash, for the first time in the years that I knew her I saw the little girl melt away in anger, each finger lit up.
Murder in her baby blue eyes but she doesn't do anything just looks at me until her eyes burning through me.
"Yesterday, I traded you for some of her blood. Noah don't you ever talk to me like that, daddy talked like that and it was the death of him. Get out, hide the brain man is on the kill he finished off daddy and your blood is calling to him (I trapped you behind glass, come and seek your revenge). Claire is waiting, no Bob to keep you here any more."
I didn't say thank you she wouldn't let me her lips hissed at me when I opened my mouth and pushed me out the door to my freedom.
Maybe I was wrong because for a moment I saw my little Claire (I love you, I hate you) smiling out at me not the girl that her father turned her into, and right now all I wanted to do was protect her.
"Elle, come with me now. I am not leaving you for Sylar."
There it was again that smile (I love you, I hate you) then it turned strong and her hands turned a blinding blue.
"Go. Don't worry about me, killers have soft spots for blonds plus he killed Bob for me I owe him. Goodbye, daddy."
Her lips kissed me hard on the cheek and I watched her feet skip away. For a moment I thought she was mine and maybe she always was.
