Here We Are

Takumi and Gii were silent as they entered their dorm to turn in for the night. It had been a long day for both of them, and they had spent the past little while in silence – Gii lost in thought and Takumi unsure of what to say. Once the door was closed, Gii began to take his tie and jacket off.

"Gii…" Takumi spoke quietly.

"We have a long day tomorrow, "Gii cut him off. "We should both get some sleep."

"I guess…" Still as a loss for words, Takumi started to change into his pajamas as well. When he had finished changing, he climbed into bed but when he turned to switch off his bedside lamp, Takumi noticed Gii was sitting at his desk.

"Gii, aren't you going to bed too?"

The other man looked over and smiled at his companion. "I will in a few minutes, I just need to finish some things."

"You don't mean homework, do you? But we don't have any classes tomorrow because of the funeral."

At the mention of Suzuki's funeral services, Gii's smile disappeared and he turned back to his desk. "I know, I'm just worried that there won't be time is all."

"Alright."

"I won't be long, I promise."

"Okay…" Takumi rolled onto his side – back to Gii – and tried to fall asleep.

An hour or so later, the couple found themselves in the same spots with no more sleep than they'd had when they first came back. Slowly, the younger boy sat up and looked over to the other's back – he froze when he noticed small shakes running down Gii's back.

"Gii?"

Gii jumped slightly at the sound of his boyfriend's questioning voice. "I'm sorry, Takumi, I'm almost finished." There was a strange tremble in Gii's voice that was so unusual, it unsettled Takumi greatly. Without a word, he got up from bed and walked over to the other man.

"I didn't mean to wake you; you should go back to bed." Gii spoke lightly when he felt hands on his shoulders. "I'm really almost finished."

Looking down, Takumi noticed that the paper sitting on Gii's desk was completely blank. Silence filled the room once again as Takumi tried to figure out what to say to comfort his upset boyfriend. Suddenly, he got an idea.

"Hey, Gii?"

"Yes?"

"I can't sleep." Takumi slid both arms loosely around Gii's neck. "Will you come lay down with me?"

Despite everything, a smile broke across Gii's features, as he reached up and twined his fingers with Takumi's. "Okay."

Together, they stood and walked over to Takumi's bed – Takumi lay down first on his back, then lifted the blankets while Gii climbed in and settled beside him.

"Feeling better?" Gii asked quietly, fingers gently stroking Takumi's cheek.

Takumi smiled softly, "Much better, thank you." He snuggled closer to Gii, sighing contently.

Together, they sat in silence for what felt like a blissful eternity, until Gii spoke again. "Takumi?"

"Hmm?"

Gii reached up and softly ran the tips of his fingers down his boyfriend's cheek. "Thank you."

Instead of responding, Takumi simply smiled back and twined his fingers with Gii's free hand, staring up at his dark eyes. "I love you." He leaned forward to brush his lips across Gii's – who deepened the kiss.

After they had finished exchanging kisses, Takumi laid his head back down and closed his eyes. It had been a long day for both of them and he was starting to feel tired surrounded by the warmth of Gii's arms.

Gii watched his boyfriend silently as Takumi's breath slowed and eventually evened out in sleep. Today had been one of the hardest days of his life so far and he was sure that tomorrow, with the funeral and everything, was going to be even harder. Somehow, despite how upset he had been earlier, Takumi had somehow made him feel much better just by being, well, being Takumi. Gii didn't know what he would ever do if he ever lost Takumi; this boy in his arms meant so much to him. Eventually, he closed his eyes and sleep, too, finally reached him.
