Howdy. Just a thought that popped into my head that wouldn't let me sleep until I had written out. Bastard thoughts. In any case, enjoy!
A/N: Italics will be past conversation between Eyes and Kiyotaka with Eyes always speaking first, Bold italics will be Kanone's comments/advice (not sure which to call it exactly, you'll see) on/to Eyes, regular text will be current events/speech.

In the distance, a siren could be heard. Like many, Eyes Rutherford knew exactly why the ambulance was out, and what it was speeding towards. Though, unlike everyone, Eyes knew exactly what had happened.
"Promise me."
"No."
Don't let him fool you, Eyes…
"Why not?"
"I don't make promises."
He just doesn't make promises he knows he can't keep.
It wasn't an accident, like most would assume, neither was it suicide or murder.
"Stay."
"No."
Don't let him trick you, Eyes…
"Why not?"
"I have no reason to."
He just never stays in one place for long.
It was a simple twist of fate, an extremely unfortunate event.
"Then leave."
"I am."
Don't let him deceive you, Eyes…
"Why?"
"You just told me to."
He didn't want to go.
It had been no one's fault, even though one would get blamed.
"Will you come back?"
"No."
Don't let him lie to you, Eyes…
"Why not?"
"I told you I wouldn't."
He'll never remain a memory.
Moments later, as Kiyotaka left Eyes' apartment for what neither believed to be the last time, the screech of tires and blaring of a horn sounded, followed by a thud that couldn't be mistaken as anything other than a body hitting the ground. Then silence. As shocked residents of Osaka looked upon the body of the famous man, two eyes watched the scene calmly before disappearing into the shadows.
"Don't lie to me."
"Why not?"
Don't let him mislead you, Eyes…
"Just don't."
"Why?"
Even though it may be too late…
"Because I hate it."
"Fine."
He didn't want to lose you.
An obituary in the newspaper the next morning confirmed the tragic events of last night. Eyes Rutherford was dead.
Don't let him delude you, Eyes…
"So you'll come back?"
"Yes."
He'll never leave you.
"I'm glad."
"I know."
Kiyotaka returned to Eyes' apartment the next afternoon, as promised, to gather the last of the pianists' things. As the brunette exited the penthouse suite for what would be the last time, a small whisper echoed through the empty rooms, "Just a memory."

Yes, I know. Short and angsty. Oh well, hope you liked it. Not much to say about it, so review!
