Well, considering it was our independance day today I kind of felt like writing something. But then...that really didn't seem to have much to do with GW soooo this is the story that came out of it. I hope you like it. It's really really short I know. BUt hey. whatever...

Enjoy!

Alone together

Quatre quickly scanned the fridge to see if he had forgotten anything, before turning to finish loading the tray. Water, strawberries, candy, peanut butter-jelly sandwiched, alcohol free champagne, everything seemed to be there. He lifted the tray and glanced around the kitchen to make sure it was neat before shutting the light switch off with his elbow.

He headed out past the living room where there was a crackling fire and an oddly-perfectly decorated Christmas tree. He pushed open the French doors to be greeted by four sets of eyes on him. He smiled and set the tray down on a table near his seat, which meant in Trowa's waiting arms under a comfy blanket. Wufei, to the left in his own seat, was huddled under his own blanket, until he began pouring the champagne for each of them.

Heero frowned slightly when he had to relinquish Wufei's hand so he could pass out the drinks, but Duo leaned back further against Heero's legs to comfort him slightly. Duo knew how temperamental his two lovers could be, but he still focused on roasting his marshmallow over the open fire in front of them all.

Trowa saw that the fire was dying slightly and reached for another one of the letters that was cordially inviting them to be present at some ceremony none of them had wanted to be at. He deftly flicked his wrist and the letter tumbled into the fire.

It was the anniversary of the end of the war, their independence day really and they did not want to be an icon for a crowd. They did not want to be the center of attention. They did not want to be the heroes everyone praised them for being. They wanted peace.

And so quietly the pilots sat together, at one of Quatre's properties, enjoying each other's company as a family. Feeling the warmth of the fire, eating marshmallows, holding hands, embracing each other, and drinking champagne.

And although Duo had insisted that the fireworks would be cooler if they were closer, they were all happy being alone together, relaxing when the fireworks began.

End

Well I know it was short, but I hope you liked it anyways. Reviews would be cool. This was definetly like spur of the moment took me less then ten-minutes to write sort of thing, but I hope you enjoyed it just the same

See ya,
