A/N: The purpose of this little exercise was to try and get into Alec's head a bit, and examine the type of person and life he wants to be/have, by contrasting it with who he is. The idea was inspired by the episode It's a Bad, Bad, Bad World from Charmed, season 6, because it showed that in a parallel universe (or on a different plane, I can't remember which) there are complete opposites of us.
In a parallel universe, I am not a killer
I am not being hunted down like an animal
I am not haunted by my past
I am not feared.
I can sleep without nightmares shocking me violently awake
I can look in the mirror and not hate what I see
I can live, instead of survive
In a parallel universe, I am worthy of anyone's respect
I don't need to be constantly bailed out
I don't even think about turning against my own kind
I don't wallow in self-pity and willingly let the past try to kill me
I am not alone
In a parallel universe, she doesn't see Ben
She sees Alec.
She sees me
In a parallel universe, she actually wants me around
But in my own…
She sees right through me.
A/N: Honestly, I don't think this is even close to my best work, but I just wanted to get something out there since it's been so long since I've updated Rogue (which will get an update, I'm just insanely busy at the moment). I hope you've managed to find some sort of enjoyment out of it anyways. If people like it, I'm thinking to add more from other characters' views.
