Title: Selfish?
Summary: Harry and Hermione are arguing, can Harry look beyond his own PoV? Set around OotP according to Harry's mood, no ships, almost dialogue
Rating: K+
Disclaimer: If we just pretended that Hermione was my figure 'cause she isn't named in this fic? No? Ah well, don't own anything except storyline, don't sue.
A/N: This was written a sort of diary a day when I was really angry with… Well, kinda everything! smiles I didn't really think about it, but when I went over it later, I thought it was quite nice, so here you go!
(Bad title, I know.)
He felt anger rising in his chest. Boiling like a kettle, threatening to spill the potion on the floor. "Calm down," he told himself. "It wont help to yell at her." But staying calm and rational when angry, had never been one of the things he was best at.
"Stop looking at me like that!"
"But Harry… We didn't mean to upset you, it's just…"
"You didn't mean to upset me, hah? Well that certainly helps a lot," he said sarcastically. "Fact is that you did upset me! And if you would just stop acting that stupid, you wouldn't have to care whether you mean to upset me or not, 'cause you wouldn't!"
"It wasn't stupid Harry." Her voice was defying, not shaky as before. "I did my best, but sometimes you seem to think that I'm kind of perfect. I'm human Harry. I make mistakes, just like you, but at least I don't make the mistake of shouting at my friends when they haven't done anything wrong!"
That calmed him down a bit, but not entirely. "Well, try to be perfect then. That would keep you from doing such moron things!"
"If you would just try to understand that what I did actually makes sense, even if it upsets the oh-so-great-and-mighty-Harry-Potter, you might find out that sometimes I try to help other people than you. You're so selfish sometimes!"
"Selfish! Oh great, thank you very much. 'I'm the Boy Who Lived, I'm famous. Anybody who wants an autograph?' Have you ever heard me say something like that? No! I try to be me, to be ordinary. Try not to be the person Snape seems to think I am. I thought you at least supported me, but well, I'll survive, I know betrayal, I'll deal with it, no problem…"
"For God's sake Harry! I don't say you go around boasting about how great you are, I just say that in this situation you don't seem to be able to see other points of view than yours and that's wrong!"
For some reason, her words finally seemed to reach his mind. He calmed down a bit, and bent his head.
"You're right."
Hermione looked at him, a look of deep surprise spread on her angry face.
"You mean it?"
"Yeah, I didn't want to see it from your point of view, from their point of view. But it still upsets me, though." The last was added in a thoughtful voice. As if he didn't quite understand how he could be upset, but still tell her, that she was right.
"Oh thank you Harry. You're just so stubborn sometimes! I'm glad you understood this time. Oh sorry, did I upset you again?"
He gave her a small grin. "I'm fine. See ya later, right? Guess you've got stuff to do."
She nodded. "Yeah. Actually I've got to hurry," she said, checking her watch. "See you, Harry!"
He watched until she was out of sight.
A/N: If you want it to be, it can be romance, but it isn't meant to be. I'm not a H/Hr shipper, even if they could make a quite good match. Review, please? You'll make my day!
